We are a homeschool family and have worked with homeschool groups for years. We realize that sometimes homeschool projects don't work out. We do occasionally have a group register with us who are later not able to publish for one reason or another.
We do not charge a penalty or cancellation fee if something happens that prevents you from publishing. Most other publishers do. Many even require you to sign a contract obligating you to pay the full amount whether you publish a book or not.
After working with a couple of groups a few years back that were unable to publish their book, we reduced our book prices slightly and added a registration fee. Our wholesaler charges a cancellation fee if we register your group to publish a book and then you are unable to publish. We also incur other expenses related to your book even before you submit it for printing. The registration fee enables us to cover most of these expenses.
The registration fee is not a deposit that applies to your final bill but a separate fee. We have reduced our book prices accordingly to take into account that you have already paid a registration fee.
